Especie de super banda que junta o Steve Tucker de Morbid Angel, Gene Palubicki de Angelcorpse e o John Longstreth ex Angelcorpse e atual Hate Eternal. Ep no proximo ano com 4 musicas sendo uma delas uma violentissima cover de Sodom....musicalmente a fazer lembrar algo entre Angelcorpse, Morbid Angel ou o primeiro de Deicide...basicamente Death Metal em modo "quantos são, caralho?!" e que certamente agradará a quem gosta das bandas citadas em cima. 

Primeiro avanço em baixo:

Stabat Mater - Treason by the Son of Man

Finalmente o segundo album de Stabat Mater, mais proximo de Fleshpress e a deixar um pouco para o lado aquele sentido mais funerário do album de 2009, no entanto existem aqui umas curiosas semelhanças com aquilo que Process of Guilt já fez em algum material principalmente no som das guitarras... não é sonoridade obvia como se entende, até porque aqui o som é mais primitivo, no entanto a mistura entre o Death-Doom com aquele lado mais autista lamacento e arrastado de uns Corrupted tem sempre o seu encanto doentio...ainda mais com a voz do Mikko Aspa a assombrar a coisa!

Gryftigæn - Fehunðyrdauðr

Isto só vai sair em Março do próximo ano em edição fisica..no entanto este projeto de nome impronunciável vindo do Chile é capaz de ser uma das coisas mais interessantes que ouvi nos ultimos anos dentro do BM mais fiel à tradição nórdica no que à mistura do ambiente mais primitivo diz respeito...algo proximo a talvez se as demos de Emperor fossem feitas hoje em dia e influenciadas por Urkaos (ou outra qualquer entidade saida da Ancient Records), sem quaisquer tipo de aditivos a envenenar o som. Este é o segundo registo de um dos pilares mais consistentes do Valdivian Black Circle e um album que tanto tem de viciante como de obsessivo.

Phrenelith - Chimaera

"Several years having passed since the conception of their monumental debut album, PHRENELITH have been slowly conjuring up new material, which has culminated in the creation and recording of a new full-length that will soon be unleashed upon the world. Titled Chimaera, PHRENELITH’s second album comprises seven songs of bludgeoning death metal, with lyrics heavily inspired by the darker terms of Greek mythology and shows a horrid-yet-familiar visage. While delving into new and uncharted musical territory, incorporating new refining elements, PHRENELITH’s attack is accompanied by the downtuned darkness and death-rattling emissions that the band is known for. Truly, it is not hyperbole to suggest that Chimaera eclipses the expansive horror of Desolate Endscape. Phenocryst - Explosions

"BLOOD HARVEST RECORDS is proud to present PHENOCRYST's striking debut EP, Explosions, on CD, 12" vinyl, and cassette tape formats. Hailing from Portugal, PHENOCRYST was formed in early 2020 by D.S. (Archaic Tomb, Summon) and P. Tosher (Extreme Unction, Scum Liquor, ex-A Tree of Sign), with N. (Summon, Sepulcros, Concilium) and V.M. (Systemik Violence, Necrobode) joining later on, during the recording of their debut EP. The band is based in the outskirts of Lisbon, and the origin of such conjuration is a rigorous consequence of a vibrant underground activity in the city. D.S. and P. Tosher wanted to create the foundation of a death metal act crossing other influences like doom and some psychedelic vibes, to illustrate soundscapes of disastrous, catastrophic, and annihilating volcanic and natural events. There are not many artists actually singing about this specific topic, if any, and therefore, the lyrical content is also something to explore. As such, the moniker PHENOCRYST is fitting. Aptly titled Explosions, PHENOCRYST now reveal their debut recording. Totaling five tracks (one instrumental) over 23 minutes, Explosions unsettles with preternatural ease, reeking of death stench and obscure delirium. PHENOCRYST are proudly and purely death metal, but are emboldened in their liberation to explore within this rich language: Only Death is Realer. Sinistro - Live At Roadburn

Para encerrar com chave de ouro a passagem da Patricia Andrade na banda (e já agora tambem a do Fernando Matias) os portugueses Sinistro juntamente com a sua "editora nacional" Raging Planet resolvem imortalizar em vinil e de forma limitada a sua passagem pelo festival Roadburn em 2016. 

Quem conhece minimante a banda sabe que estamos perante um dos mais interessantes projetos saidos do universo "Post-qualquer-coisa" quer seja na sua fase inicial onde se explorava um poetico silêncio quer na fase seguinte onde a voz da Patricia veio acrescentar uma tonalidade diferente adensando ainda mais dinamica à uma sonoridade já de si urbana e algo sufocante, transformando as musicas em pequenas peças de teatralismo sonoro que deixam um rasto de feitiço á sua passagem..um daqueles raros casos em que uma inicial colaboração se transforma em casamento cheio de bons momentos.

Infelizmente como tudo tem um fim tambem Sinistro chegou a um ponto de não retorno..embora pelo que dá a entender a banda, esse fim poderá estar mais proximo de um renascimento do que outra coisa..a ver vamos no futuro..

Mas voltando ao album, o que ouvimos aqui são quatro faixas tocadas no festival holandês e mesmo não sendo aparentemente o concerto completo dá uma ideia clara daquilo que era a banda ao vivo e que certamente deixará de sorriso na cara todos aqueles que gostam ou seguem a banda portuguesa ao longos dos ultimos anos....uma ultima nota para o artwork do album que embora pareca algo simples encaixa como uma luva nesta edição!

Savage Deity - Decade of Savagery

Alguem tem saudades daquele Death-Metal dos anos 90, com aquele som pesado e cheio, carregado de solos e riffs "penetrantes"? Ou da fase Thrash-Metal de Sepultura? O terceiro album dos tailandeses Savage Deity talvez ajude a matar essa nostalgia....até porque isto é um album MONSTRUOSO e muito acima da média!!

"INHUMAN ASSAULT PRODUCTIONS is proud to present SAVAGE DEITY's highly anticipated third album, Decade of Savagery, on CD, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. Wharflurch - Psychedelic Realms Ov Hell

"On September 3rd, 2021, PERSONAL RECORDS in conspiracy with GURGLING GORE are proud to present WHARFLURCH's highly anticipated debut album, Psychedelic Realms Ov Hell. PERSONAL will release the CD edition while GURGLING GORE will release the cassette tape version. Formed in the swampy summer of 2019, WHARFLURCH is the bastard brain excrement of two Floridian heathens (who also do time in D-beat death-mongers Hot Graves) who desired to made the world a more drippy, disgusting place for human scum to writhe in. Thus, a death metal sound influenced by the horrific doom found in uncharted areas of space and the malaise of swamp madness was envisioned, and mind-crushing riffs and concepts were conjured. Recording began in mid-2019, with MC handling all instrumental duties, while JM (normally behind a drum kit in all previous bands) took on the vocal attack. Primitive demos were tracked, and the four-song Demo 2019 was unleashed digitally. Even with nearly zero promotion, the response was eerily enthusiastic among comrades of the band. Still wishing to refine and strengthen the sound without losing the bizarre atmospherics, writing began for a new demo recording process that would bring the horror even more into focus. In early 2020, the recording began for Lurking Doom, the first official EP from WHARFLURCH, which found the depths of cosmic death worship even deeper and more obscure than before. WHARFLURCH then assembled a live lineup, just in time for Covid-19 to relieve us the burden ov enjoying live music. Writing and rehearsing went frantically, and by the end ov summer, the second EP Shitslime was recorded and released digitally, and then released on CD by PERSONAL RECORDS in March. Like light-speed slime malformed into song, or more malodorous basements found below those of subterranean death metal, Shitslime lived up to its lively namesake, and then some: WHARFLURCH's command of ripe, rotten riff and tension-inducing texture are enviously advanced for a band so new. Which is to say nothing of the utterly sweltering production across Shitslime, totally live and loose(st)...and this was merely the beginning of a tale too gruesome and gargantuan to contemplate. At long last, that tale reaches a fever pitch with WHARFLURCH's debut album, Psychedelic Realms Ov Hell. Almost too perfectly titled, Psychedelic Realms Ov Hell is a hallucinogenic maelstrom of a full-length, the band equally armed with riffs and psilocybin. A tale that can only come from the spiral swamps of Florida, the album comprises six songs that reveal a story of how this psychic spore arrived on this planet, determined to take over, and how that has played out over centuries to the present moment. Awash in trippy synth textures, WHARFLURCH's tendrilous attack still remains a death metal odyssey to its core, riff after pummeling, slimy riff. This time, the sound is much more powerful and in your face than before, and the artwork takes the elements that the band is known for even further. One could say that WHARFLURCH have truly "arrived," but their increasingly unique style of death metal simultaneously sounds aeons old and light years ahead. Kaal Akuma - In the Mouth of Madness

 

O movimento extremo asiático para quem está ou se interessa pelo que se vai fazendo a nível Underground é o antro de algumas das bandas mais violentas e fodidas dentro do Death/Black mais feio que se possa imaginar.

Tendo como maior inspiração e influência os canadianos Blasphemy, todo aquele universo gira de uma forma (mesmo que se considere minúscula) algo fanática e onde a "devoção" tem dado alguns nomes bastante interessantes nos últimos anos como é o caso de Genocide Shrines, Serpent Spells, Incinerated entre outros, não esquecendo como é obvio, os velhos Deiphago. Entretanto no meio disto tudo surge mais um nome que me deixou bastante impressionado, os bengalis Kaal Akuma que editaram no inicio deste ano e através da Dunkelheit Produktionen um incrivel album de Death-Metal que mesmo tendo como base a cada vez mais sem jeito moda do OS consegue adicionar uma moderna fina camada de violência exprimida das veias secas de nomes como Grave Miasma (grande novo album, já agora!!) ou Dead Congregation que torna esta curta meia hora numa absoluta delicia! Liricamente ao contrario do que parece acontecer a banda não explora somente o universo horroroso do HPL mas sim algo cada vez mais comum no universo extremo que é o recuperar do misticismo e alguma mitologia antiga neste caso as coisas parecem ir da civilização Maia (ex: Master of Metnal) até ao budismo espiritual (ex: Yamantaka)..é muito provavelmente uma nova tendência que será engolida por todos como sempre acontece, no entanto acaba por ser bastante interessante apanhar estes digamos primeiros nomes a explora-la desta forma mais sinistra, direta e não tão folk como acontece com alguns nomes do Black Twilight Circle, isto com as devidas distancias obviamente. Mas voltando a Kaal Akuma, não existe muito mais a dizer a não ser que este é para mim um dos albuns mais honestos e vibrantes que ouvi nas ultimas semanas...talvez passe ao lado de todos mas que isto é fantástico ..foda-se lá isso é!!

Apostasy - Death Return

 

Os chilenos Apostasy chegam a 2021 apenas com o seu terceiro album..a frase pode soar banal mas se olharmos para a longa carreira da banda as coisas tornam-se algo estranhas, essencialmente porque para a qualidade aqui demonstrada é quase criminoso que um projeto com esta dinâmica musical esteja tanto tempo na penumbra, mesmo tendo editado o seu ultimo registo há pouco mais de dois anos..mas por entre algumas demos/eps e os tais dois anteriores albuns chegamos agora a este muito interessante "Death Return".

A sonoridade tem como bases os pilares do Thrash de uns Slayer antigo, os primórdios do Death enquanto movimento e aquilo que bandas como Destroyer666 já fez ou tem vindo a fazer nas ultimas décadas, dito isto pode parecer algo simples e meio "olha mais uma banda pateta e juvenil de Thrash" mas não o é...de todo!!

O Thrash-Metal do projeto consegue ser agressivo e profano o suficiente sem entrar naquele extremismo algo estéril que por vezes encontramos em alguns nomes que apenas procuram solidificar a imagem ao invés do som. 

Para além deste aspeto convém destacar a qualidade bem acima da média dos temas como se pode conferir em faixas como "Deceased In Funeral", onde a banda consegue agarrar pelo pescoço umas ligeiras influências mais europeias do estilo sem com isso perder força enquanto as dissolve naquilo que mostra como sendo seu no album ou na inspiradíssima e viciante cavalgada Slayeriana que é a "Obey The Antichrist"...

Resumindo um album de Thrash com letra grande que deixa muita dependência à medida que o ouvimos mais vezes.

"PARADEIGMA (Phosphenes of Aphotic Eternity)" is the definitive work from idiosyncratic Czech avant-Black Metal band INFERNO. Burrowing further into the dense, hypnotic soundworlds initiated on 2017’s "Gnosis Kardias", this newest emission formulates an alluring new language from the isolationist syntax of Black Metal, blending the contemplative and the disturbing into a mesmeric journey through veiled psychic recesses and towards the infinite. Using layers of guitar tracks, abstruse vocal and sound textures, intricate martial rhythms and ominous dynamism, INFERNO have produced a surreal dreamscape inspired in part by the most obscure, forward-thinking records of BLUT AUS NORD and THE CURE, 70s-80s Post-punk and the ingenuity/sheer fanaticism found within the Black Metal canon.
