Linnea Hjertén - Steg för steg

"Linnea Hjertén’s second album, “Steg för steg” (‘Step by Step’), offers both continuation and departure. It extends the ritual ambient and folk foundations of “Nio systrar” while opening new paths through lyrics and expanded instrumentation. Each track feels like a threshold: a step deeper into vulnerability, a step further into the unknown. Traditional instruments anchor the record without confining it. Nyckelharpa and moraharpa – especially in minor modes and long, sighing notes – draw out a distinctly Swedish melancholy. Hjertén favours old tools in new contexts: keeping traditions alive, connecting to those who came before, and working with what the land provides. Layers of voice carry the emotional weight; arrangements bloom from drones, framedrum pulse, and the hush between tones. Hjertén also draws on kulning, the ancient Nordic herding call, which rises briefly in pieces such as “Blodmåne” and “Alltet är intet”, reshaped through her own expression. She records and mixes everything herself, ensuring an intimacy that seeps through every tone. Minimal means, maximal presence. Songs carried by breath and purpose rather than studio sheen. The result is folk-rooted Nordic ambient that places essence over ornament: step by step, surrender by surrender."

De Arma - Nightcall (ep)

O que esperar de dois musicos com passado (ou presente) em Armagedda, Kaos Sacramentum ou Grifteskymfning? 

Provavelmente tudo menos Black Metal violento ou mistico...pode parecer irónico mas não, já que a dupla Andreas Pettersson e Johan Marklund o que aqui faz neste novo ep De Arma é trazer novamente à tona aquela sonoridade urbana e algo saudosista dos anos 80, onde se vão afogando influências de synthpop (que hoje em dia terá como uns dos grandes porta estandartes o projeto Drab Majesty) e se mistura aquele sentido negro e melancolico que tão tragicamente dá um certo encanto e decadência a este tipo de som que por vezes quase cai dentro do universo POP, aliás a ultima das três faixas vocalizada pela Maria Oja acaba por ser um bom exemplo do que quero dizer, sem com isso gerar ou criar um efeito de mau estar auditivo. 

Bastante interessante e se gostam de algo como escrevi em cima proximo de Drab Majesty, Depeche Mode e outros nomes que exploram este lado mais mais emocional, dreamy ou atmosferico certamente vão ter aqui uns belos 25 minutos de puro prazer. 

Com saida prevista para o inicio de Maio atraves da Silent Future Recordings...

AMOR FATI PRODUCTIONS is proud to present HÄXENZIJRKELL's highly anticipated debut album, Die Nachtseite, on CD and vinyl LP formats. Ever since the release of their first demo tape back in 2016, HÄXENZIJRKELL marched on their very own path towards the bottomless pit of darkness. Raw and resolute black metal was the German duo's foundation; the mysteries of the beyond was their goal. And thirsty and miserable was that march, stridently suffocating the listener (and perhaps themselves) with epic-length screeds of despair and dread, culminating in two more EPs as well as split EPs with LVTHN and Brånd in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Now, the bottom of that bottomless pit drops out completely, and the result is HÄXENZIJRKELL's long-awaited debut album, Die Nachtseite. Sonically consistent with their prior works yet wielding new twists to their trademark horror & howl, Die Nachtseite marks a further step: a ritual divided in three parts - the Path, the Flame, and the Awakening. Musically, the duo continue where the recent split with Brånd left off, building alternately dense/spacious soundwalls nevertheless staggeringly tall and menacing. Like past HÄXENZIJRKELL compositions, the three epics comprising the 37-minute album easily walk into double-digit length, and for good reason: their utterly sinister atmospheres envelop the listener like a slowly-moving, hauntingly-hovering fog. Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou - May Our Chambers Be Full

"Stemming out of an offer from Roadburn Festival organizer Walter Hoeijmakers, mutual acquaintances, and a shared love of each other’s output, May Our Chambers Be Full is the first recorded document of collaboration between Emma Ruth Rundle and Thou. While their solo material seems on its face to be quite disparate, both groups have spent their respective careers lurking at the outer boundaries of the heavy metal scene, the artists having more in common with DIY punk and its spiritual successor, grunge. May Our Chambers Be Full straddles a similar, very fine line both musically and thematically. While Emma Ruth Rundle’s standard fare is a blend of post-rock-infused folk music, and Thou is typically known for its downtuned, doomy sludge, the conjoining of the two artists has created a record more in the vein of the early ’90s Seattle sound and later ’90s episodes of Alternative Nation, while still retaining much of the artists’ core identities. Likewise, the lyrical content of the album is a marriage of mental trauma, existential crises, and the ecstatic tradition of the expressionist dance movement. “Excessive sorrow laughs. "Enon Chapel is the new side project of Meghan Wood (Crown of Asteria, Iarnvidgur) and Balan (Palace of Worms, Botanist, Ordo Obsidium). The project was Inspired by their mutual interest in the darker aspects of Victorian-Era London and in particular the tale of Jack The Ripper and the burial crisis of the first part of the century which saw London cemeteries literally bursting with rotting corpses- the result of a massive population surge. Taking influence from the raw and ravaged sound of lo-fi Black Metal basement dwellers such as Ildjarn, Bone Awl, Cult of Daath, Les Legions Noire, and The Black Twilight Circle, then injecting the sound further with Punk and Thrash elements, Enon Chapel has crafted a raw, visceral burst of darkness straight out of the crumbling crypts of Highgate Cemetery."

Infernal Coil - Within A World Forgotten

Hoje em dia encontrar um album de Death-Metal que preencha os requisitos acaba por ser até uma tarefa bastante...fácil! O pior é encontrar um que o faça mas que ao mesmo tempo supere ligeiramente aquilo que usualmente se encontra por ai..no caso da musica extrema por vezes a coisa acaba por se embrulhar nela propria já que muitas bandas tanto se querem transformar que se acabam por sufocar a elas proprias, isto focando apenas em alguns casos digamos mais marcantes ou melhor que nos davam algumas indicações para aquilo que se poderia vir a criar num futuro proximo.

Ora bem dito isto vamos focar-nos naquele que é para já uma das maiores surpresas do ano no que ao Death-Metal diz respeito..o album "Within A World Forgotten" dos americanos Infernal Coil.

Aquilo que se vai encontrar aqui não será muito surpreendente para quem tem acompanhado o que de mais assustador se tem criado nas ultimas decadas ou melhor que crie o mesmo impacto a quem vai chocar de frente pelas primeiras vezes com este tipo de sonoridade, já que as referencias são mais ou menos obvias, o destaque sim vai pela forma um pouco refrescante como a banda vai buscar algumas sonoridades não tão proximas deste tipo de Death-Metal e que geralmente se encontra mais em discos de USBM mais florestal e o crava de uma forma natural no meio deste tipo de inferno sonoro..dando uma comparação assim mais ou menos proxima imaginem o que Teitanblood/Mitochondrion fazem com ambientes demoniacos, os Infernal Coil aplicam a mesma formula, misturando a violencia de uns Knelt Rote/Triumvir Foul com nuances e raios de luz proximos de uns Neurosis, só mesmo para usar uma referencia mais consensual, fazendo com que esta colagem de sonoridades se agigante perante nós, dando-lhe um aspecto incrivelmente monstruoso mas ao mesmo tempo vivo e ritualista...

Um album incrível que espero que não passe ao lado de qualquer ouvinte dito de musica extrema este ano...nem que seja para se abrir os olhos e respirar aquele ar final depois da autentica descarga de desolação em que estivemos envolvidos....

Time Lurker - EP I & EP II

Mais uma vez a francesa Les Acteurs de l'Ombre Productions a provar que continua a ser uma das editoras no Underground com os ouvidos mais atentos ao que de melhor se faz por ai e a prova-lo novamente aqui está Time Luker.
Este lançamento junta o anterior ep editado no passado ano com material novo e o resultado certamente irá agradar a toda a nova geração de ouvintes de BM atmosferico nascida da fase pos Cascadian onde se mistura uma certa tendencia cosmica com momentos de "agressividade emocional de inspiração hipster" proximos de algumas bandas norte americanas mas que aqui a sonoridade parece ser aplicada de uma forma mais violenta que o habitual originando um registo bem acima da média.
A sonoridade como disse tanto apela a ouvintes de WITTR como aos de Hexis (por exemplo) e mesmo que não seja propriamente nada de original (começa a ser complicado neste campo) tem momentos de pura magia, a "Judgement" merece uma escuta atenta e os dois temas finais são do melhor que poderão encontrar dentro deste estilo atualmente na minha opinião.
Muito sinceramente para quem algumas saudades daquilo que algumas bandas vindas da cordilheira norte do pacifico americano fizeram no passado tem aqui um registo para consumo intenso....vindo de França.

Saudade - Diary of Voices

Saudade pode ser uma das palavras portuguesas de tradução mais complicada mas mesmo assim não invalida que por esse mundo fora e em especial na musica seja usada como algo para transmitir toda uma ideia/sentimento "exotico" de perda dificil de explicar..
Um dos mais recentes casos onde a encontrei foi nesta banda vinda de Ontario (Canadá) e se à partida se esperaria uma sonoridade de lamento aquilo que este projeto nascido das cinzas de Dead Mans Will, Aurelia ou Rampacy nos oferece é tudo menos isso...alias o unico sentimento que estes Saudade transmitem é desprezo e por vezes quase odio mesmo com a enganadora intro acustica ou algumas passagens mais suaves pelo meio.
Musicalmente o projeto explora uma sonoridade bastante caotica a fazer lembrar uns Rotting Sky ou Axis Of Light embora não tão violentos onde se massacra de forma cruel qualquer réstia de Black Metal de contornos mais classicos já que adiciona um certo fel vindo do d-beat ou Crust que misturado neste extremismo transforma o album numa corrente de espinhos que destroi tudo á sua volta.
O album é bastante interessante e vale umas escutas pela forma simples e crua como o agora trio (a baixista Rachel entretanto entrou para a banda) explora este sentimento de perda de uma forma que tanto tem de sinistra como de desagradável.
Recomenda-se!
