The Stars Are Laced With Serpentine And Blood
"Mark McCoy’s latest solo drawing exhibition, Devouring Ghost, opened 04.17.15 at Weltkunstzimmer in Düsseldorf, Germany. To coincide with the nine drawings in the exhibition, he created a special edition soundtrack to play in the gallery. Each musical composition relates to a visual work on display, presented in an array of stripped-down black metal and ambient tracks. The album spans two LPs and was composed in collaboration with Ian Jacyszyn (Absolute Power, Suburbanite) and Ryan Martin (Dais Records, Copley Medal). Devouring Ghost deals with the transience and mutability of a technically-constructed world. Symbols of decay and mortality reflect the ambivalent and unconscious desire for death."
Abacination traces its roots back to May of 2010 when the founding members discovered a common interest in trying to create a unique mix of black and death metal, with an emphasis on the later. What ensued was a long process of composition and work to convert this idea into a fully functioning band. By early 2011 the band was a full five piece and work was started on a DIY demo to showcase the fruits of the work done in the earliest period of this collaboration.
Demo II was released in spring 2012. Today, Abacination is slowly but surely moving deeper and deeper into the dark void that is black metal. New material is on the way.
"Vaiya's third album 'Remnant Light' is an aggressive ritual banishment of the darkest aspects of the ego. A progression upward toward the light and away from that which drags us down. Told through three thirteen minute tracks, 'Remnant Light' seeks to exalt the journey toward bliss and repel the darkness that aims to destroy true being.
This album is a more straight forward Black Metal record than the two previous Vaiya releases, which were written specifically for live ritual performance, thus, there is more emphasis put on dense atmosphere and layered instrumentation.
"The light which puts out our eyes is darkness to us. Only that day dawns to which we are awake. There is more day to dawn. The sun is but a morning star." - Henry David Thoreau"
